THE FLOWS OF ESSÆNCE

Essænce, or Arcane Power, is the raw magical energy that exists on Shadow World. This magical energy flows like a river upon and within Kulthea (Shadow World). The flows of Essænce can create barriers that interfere with travel and can provide energy for spell users. It is assumed that in the beginning of Kulthea the three realms of magic were basically the same or a unified energy and the ability to utilize the Essænce is extremely rare.

THE KULTHEAN MOONS

The Shadow World has five moons, one moon is very large and the others are somewhat small.

Orhan - The largest moon, Orhan cycles every seventy days, new on the 1st and full on the 35th. Orhan is also the home of the Lords of Orhan; the good deities who resist the Unlife and have brought civilization back from devastation.
Varin - The second largest moon, Varin cycles every ten days.
Charón - The third largest moon, Charón cycles every twenty-one days. Charón is the home of the Dark Gods, evil deities worshipped by dark cults and followers of the Unlife.
Mikori - The fourth largest moon, Mikori can be barely made out in the night sky.
Tlilok - The fifth largest moon, Tlilok is actually a moon of Orhan and can be seen on clear nights.

THE KULTHEAN CALENDAR

Months

The months on Kulthea follow the cycle of Orhan and last for seventy days each. Orhan begins each month new, waxes to full on the 35th, and wanes again towards the end of the month.

Weeks

The weeks on Kulthea follow the cycle of Varin and last for ten days each. Varin begins each week new, waxes to full on the 5th day, and wanes again towards the end of the week.

The Day

The day on Kulthea is twenty-five hours long and those twenty-five hours are divided up into five, five-hour long "Quintars". The five Quintars (Morning, Midday, Evening, Night, and Predawn) are refereed to by name instead of the number.
